The Daytona 500 live race start time is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday. Forty three drivers from NASCAR's Sprint Cup make up the starting grid with Patrick the pole winner. Meanwhile, Jeff Gordon of Hendrick Motorsports is the outside pole winner. A report on Feb. 21 from ESPN.com indicates that Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick won the Daytona Duels to secure strong positions in the starting grid. Busch said of the upcoming race's increased number of cars on the track at Daytona International Speedway:
Rounding at the first five on the grid will be Greg Biffle. Kasey Kahne, driving for Chevroley will be at the #6 spot, with Juan Pablo Montoya at #7, Auston Dillon at #8, Jimmie Johnson at #9 and Clint Bowyer at #10. As far as race car drivers with local ties, Roanoke NASCAR fans will notice that Jeff Burton of South Boston, VA is at #18, while Denny Hamlin, who lived in Chesterfield, VA, is down at #35 in the starting grid.
HOW TO WATCH NASCAR LIVE ONLINE
There will be several options to watch NASCAR live online when the season heats up in the summer and fall. With the running of the Pocono 500 on June 9, 2013 NASCAR TV coverage switches from FOX to the TNT cable network, and TNT has traditionally provided a free live video stream of all their NASCAR races via their online product TNT Race Buddy. In late July for the Brickyard 500, TV coverage switches over to ESPN — so you can watch ESPN online to catch almost every Sprint Cup race from the Brickyard up until the final Cup race on November 17 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
